Here are some myth busters for you to be aware of:
Number one- all calories are equal. False! Calories in and calories out is unfortunately not that simple. There are about 95 calories in an apple and about 80 calories in a fun-sized Snickers bar but they are not equivalent. The fiber, nutrients and type of sugar are all providing more benefit than the contents of a Snickers bar despite having about 15 more calories.
Number two- extreme restriction equals extreme losses. False! If you end of restricting your calories to an extreme your body will go into starvation mode and losing weight will become very unhealthy. Losing weight from starvation can actually impact your heart health negatively.
Number three- carbs and fats are the enemy. False! Carbs and fats are crucial for our bodies to function optimally and without these foods we can suffer unhealthy weight loss.
Some of the biggest things to remember is that foods are fuel, there is no one-size-fits-all program and there could be other factors at play so it’s important to talk to your doctor.
